Pre-Fairy tells - Gulag Ep.10
May 26, 2008
Due to an unforeseeable writers’ strike that shook the entire world, Gulag wasn’t able to air as planned. Gulag Production would like to apologise for the inconvenience. Over five months have flown by since Jerome has left Moscow, Russia and has found a new home in Madrid, Spain. But is Russia really behind him?
And finally Russia was behind him
We left our beloved hero down on his knees…asking for mercy. (What did you think I was gonna say?). 2 weeks of quarantine left him feeling empty and hopeless. How could he have been so stupid as to get conjunctivitis from a one night stand that pretended to be so much more but ultimately turned out to be a big disappointment? The story of his life! We now all know what a sucker he can be when someone romances him. With nowhere to go and no one to talk to, Jerome had plenty of time to think and felt sorry for himself yet once again.
Spain didn’t look as promising as he first thought.
A morning like many others, the alarm clock rang for a good 3 hours and he kept pressing the snooze button and falling back into some random dream. He finally jumped out of bed. He was late for work. He didn’t have time to shower; he barely had time to brush his teeth. “Lucky, I shaved my head. I don’t have to worry about my hair” he thought as he closed the door behind him and ran to the tube station. Everything looked normal. Nothing was out of place but a nagging feeling inside him told him different.
« Ça ne prévient pas quand ça arrive
Ça vient de loin
Ça c'est promené de rive en rive
La gueule en coin
Et puis un matin, au réveil
C'est presque rien
Mais c'est là, ça vous ensommeillé
Au creux des reins
La joie de vivre…La joie de vivre… »
And just like that, out of nowhere, he was smiling again. And with a smile, with the tiny bit of hope he had left and didn’t know about; happiness exploded inside of him and the wind changed his course. The entire universe was smiling back at him and said: “Your wish is my command”.
He went dancing under the stars to some good old Frank Sinatra tunes and waltzed the night away tightly embracing his partner under the moonlit sky. A Dreamgirls-like concert with a Cuban vibe and some delicacies from his magical jar made him once again realise how lucky he really was. Indiana Jones came back and brought him all that was good about his childhood. The Eurovision happened again and even though Dima Bilan won; he realised he wasn’t gonna let Russia haunt him anymore. Day after day, he grew stronger and learned to appreciate his surroundings, his newly found life. And as J.K Rowling ended the Harry Potter adventure: All was good.
It was time to leave the past behind. Ecuador had been like a dream and many of his dreams had come true. But life doesn’t stay still and Jerome finally understood that he had to move on. To make today better than yesterday, to continue reaching for the impossible and that the game had only just started. Place your bets!
Soapy enough for you?
